CEE and its importance for the Swiss MEM industry
The 17 countries of Central Eastern Europe (CEE) have experienced considerable growth over the past decade. This is underlined by the increase in Swiss exports to the region from 3.7% to 4.7% of total exports or the fact that imports from CEE account for almost 4% of total Swiss imports. Especially for the success of the Swiss MEM industry, the region remains very important. This in terms of exports, imports, procurement, investments but also research and as a talent pool.
But how has the covid pandemic affected the MEM industry? What will change now that we are slowly moving towards a new normal? And how can the Swiss MEM industry benefit from all this? Our guest speaker Martin Hirzel, President of Swissmem, will discuss this and more. We look forward to a lively discussion.
Martin Hirzel has been active in Swiss industry for more than 20 years. For 9 years, until 2019, he was CEO of Autoneum Holding AG. Today, he is a member of the Board of Directors of Bucher Industries AG, Dätwyler Holding AG and two private SMEs. In addition, he is a member of the regional economic council of the Swiss National Bank and chairs the advisory board of the ZHAW School of Management & Law.
