Irena has over a decade of professional experience in foreign direct investment advisory and promotion, project management and strategic partnership building. Prior to moving to Switzerland, she worked as an advisor to the Minister for foreign investment in the Republic of North Macedonia and developed a highly valued network at the business, government and industry level in the region, as well as in the whole Europe. She has been so far working with multinational companies, local SMEs, international economic organisations and institutions, Embassies, and governmental officials. Irena coordinated several investment projects and organised and supported numerous international B2B events, investment and trade promotion roadshows, high-level meetings and conferences.

She holds an MA degree in Interdisciplinary Research and Studies on Eastern Europe from the University of Bologna, an MSc degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Sheffield and a BSc degree in International Economics from the State University Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje. Her knowledge and skills are enriched furthermore by an executive education in Sustainable Finance from the University of Zurich, and she is aiming to combine her professional background in international business and finance with her passion for sustainability. She lives in Bern and along with her role at SEC, Irena also works for a real estate company and she serves as a Partnerships and Sustainable Finance Lead at GreenBuzz Bern.
