CEE-Swiss Impulse Session January
Challenges and Opportunities for the Future of Energy Supply!
How the world – and CEE – can solve the energy problem
Dr. Christian Schaffner, Executive Director of the Energy Science Center of ETH Zürich
Date and Time: 11th January 2022 | 11:00 – 11:45 CET
The energy sector has to move to a net-zero – or even negative – greenhouse gas emission setup. This is very challenging, yet, provides many opportunities: New technologies like heat pumps or electric mobility need to be deployed to allow for decarbonization, digitalisation will be fundamental to keep the energy system secure and resilient, and decentralisation of energy production will play an important role: The three “D”s of a future resilient energy system! During this session, Christian Schaffner will discuss the challenges and the opportunities on this journey to a new energy supply system in the next 30 years. He will also present current findings of the research being conducted at the Energy Science Center of ETH Zurich.
