CEE-Swiss Impulse Session
Switzerland is a successful and internationally highly integrated economy that has enjoyed excellent partnership with the European Union. The small country relies on peace, stability, and prosperity in Europe. Benefiting from the EU enlargement and acting as responsible partner of the EU, Switzerland regularly contributes to the reduction of economic and social disparities among the member States. The second Swiss Contribution to selected EU member States envisages bilateral cooperation programs of Switzerland with the 13 EU countries that have joined the EU since 2006 – mostly CEE counties – of up to CHF 1.1 billion. An additional CHF 200 million are earmarked as a support to countries facing exceptional refugee and migration challenges. This second Contribution offers many opportunities in these 13 countries and in Switzerland, involving public and private sector organizations, academia, and NGOs. The two speakers who are leading this important program will give an overview of how the program works, what the Status Quo is and what the next steps will be until concrete projects start in the CEE countries.
This time we have two speakers: Debora Kern – Head of the EU Member States Division at the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). She has been working for 16 years at SDC in Switzerland and in Swiss representations around the world.
