About the Event Topic
In his speech, Ambassador Ivo Germann, as an experienced economic diplomat and the “face” of SECO for Switzerland’s foreign economic policy strategy, will provide a comprehensive insight into Switzerland’s economic foreign relations against the backdrop of current geopolitical challenges. He will illuminate the complex interplay between global market developments, our economic relations with Europe and the world, and Swiss economic policy. A special focus will be placed on the strategic role of Central Eastern Europe and Germany. Participants can look forward to a well-founded analysis and discussion that will be relevant for both businesspeople and political decision-makers.

About Ambassador Ivo Germann
Ambassador Ivo Germann (*1972), lic. oec. publ., has been Head of the Foreign Economic Affairs Directorate since 1 February 2023. Previously, he headed the Macroeconomic Support Section in the Economic Cooperation and Development Division. From 2019 to 2022, he was Head of Economic, Trade and Financial Affairs at the Swiss Embassy in Washington, D.C. Ivo Germann joined SECO’s Macroeconomic Support Section in August 2000 and was promoted to Deputy Head of Section in 2004. From 2007 to 2010, he was seconded to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London serving as principal economist. On returning to SECO in 2010, he took over as head of Private Sector Development and was promoted to head of Operations South/East in January 2013.
