28. Member Assembly of SEC: Exchange, Insights and Getting ready for the Future!

Rückblick/ Highlights / Key Take-Aways

An Important Meeting Point for the SEC Community

On 18 May 2026, the Chamber of Commerce Switzerland–Central Europe (SEC) welcomed numerous members, partners, embassy representatives and guests to its 28th General Assembly at Stadler Rail in Bussnang. The event combined the formal agenda of the General Assembly with professional exchange, personal networking and fascinating insights into one of Switzerland’s most internationally successful industrial companies.

Traditionally, the General Assembly is much more than an association meeting. It offers the SEC community an opportunity to cultivate relationships, exchange experiences and jointly shape the Chamber’s future development.

Insights into Stadler’s Success Story

Stadler opened the event with a company presentation by Philipp Brunner, Executive Vice President, Division Central Europe.

In his presentation, he provided an impressive account of how Stadler has developed into one of the world’s leading manufacturers of rail vehicles in recent years. Of particular interest to SEC members were his remarks on the company’s strong presence in Central and Eastern Europe and the growing importance of international supply chains, production sites and engineering expertise in the region.

The presentation highlighted how closely Swiss companies are connected with the markets of Central and Eastern Europe and the contribution the region makes to the competitiveness of many Swiss businesses.

General Assembly Focused on SEC’s Continued Development

Following the presentation, Oliver Bertschinger, President and Managing Director of SEC, guided participants through the formal agenda of the 28th General Assembly. The activities of the previous year were presented, and the strategic priorities for the coming period were discussed.

The members approved the annual financial statements, adopted the 2026 budget and confirmed the membership fees for the coming year. Participants also received an overview of SEC’s development, its event activities, its cooperation with embassies and partner organisations, and its plans to further expand the network between Switzerland and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

Highlights and Key Takeaways

1. SEC Thrives on the Commitment of Its Members

The event once again demonstrated the importance of personal encounters, trust and long-term relationships for a vibrant network.

2. Central and Eastern Europe Remains a Key Region for Switzerland

Stadler’s presentation underlined the region’s growing economic importance for Swiss companies and international value chains.

3. SEC Continues to Expand Its Network

Through new initiatives, events and partnerships, SEC is strengthening its role as a bridge between Switzerland and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

4. New Perspectives on the Board

The election of new Board members brings additional experience from business and the public sector to the Chamber’s continued development.

5. Learning from Successful Swiss Companies

The combination of a company visit, factory tour and networking offered valuable practical insights into the operations of a successful international company.

Relevance for the Swiss–CEE Community

Relations between Switzerland and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe continue to gain importance. Companies, investors, universities, embassies and professionals are more closely connected today than ever before.

SEC sees itself as a platform that strengthens these relationships, shares knowledge and brings people together. Events such as the General Assembly make an important contribution by promoting dialogue, cooperation and mutual understanding.

Board Elections and Acknowledgements

An important item on the agenda was the election of members to the SEC Board.

The members elected:

  • Gina Schmied (SECO)
  • Dominik Janes (Univio)

as new members of the Chamber’s Board. Both bring valuable experience from their respective fields and will actively contribute to SEC’s future development.

Special recognition was also given to Christoph Müller, CEO of Alfeth Engineering, who supported SEC’s work as a dedicated Board member for many years. The members thanked him for his tremendous commitment, constructive contributions and many years of service to the Chamber.

Factory Tour and Networking

Following the General Assembly, participants had the opportunity to visit Stadler’s production facilities in Bussnang as part of a guided tour.

The factory tour provided fascinating insights into the production of modern rail vehicles and showcased the innovative strength of a Swiss industrial company with an international presence.

The conversations continued in a relaxed atmosphere during the subsequent apéro riche. The personal exchange among members, guests and partners brought the day to a successful close.
