THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
SEC is committed to the success of our members and partners and to improving Switzerland’s relations with the 17 countries in the Baltic, Central Eastern and South Eastern Europe. This with a focus on business and trade, science and education, and society. To this day, we promote a powerful network of influential and committed individuals, companies and institutions in Switzerland and abroad and offer consultancy and project management services.
Below you will find detailed information about us:
For over 20 years, the independent, non-profit and politically neutral Chamber of Commerce has been successfully promoting business between Swiss entrepreneurs and companies in the following partner countries:
Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.
The Swiss-Central European Chamber of Commerce (SEC) was founded in Zurich in 1999 from the merger of seven bilateral chambers of commerce. Learn more about the foundation HERE. The non-profit organisation has since grown to include 17 countries from Central Eastern Europe (CEE).
CEE is an important region for Europe and Switzerland. This is on the one hand economically, where e.g. Switzerland’s exports have grown by over 5 billion since 2010 to 2020 and total Swiss exports to the region have increased from 3.7% to 4.7% globally. However, the region is also important for sourcing, investments and imports. CEE will probably remain Europe’s economic growth engine in the next few years, not least because of the global bloc formation and increased nearshoring.
Nevertheless, Switzerland’s cooperation with CEE in the areas of science and education, politics and society is also important. There are over a million people with a CEE background living in Switzerland and Switzerland would not survive without the necessary talent from CEE in Switzerland or in the region.
SEC is available as a bilateral, multinational chamber of commerce to Swiss as well as CEE companies and governments alike:
Our 2 goals are:
- To improve the relations between Switzerland and the 17 CEE countries in the fields of economy/trade, science/education, and society.
- To make our members and partners more successful.
In order to achieve these goals, we promote a community of influential personalities, companies and institutions that actively pursue their goals in CEE, but also want to get involved in the region.
SEC offers four areas of services:

COUNTRY RESPONSIBLE
SEC covers the entire CEE region with its 17 countries and Switzerland. This regional focus makes us unique. At the same time, we are aware that binational relations (e.g. Poland – Switzerland / Slovakia – Switzerland etc.) are of great importance for the respective countries. That is why we have now appointed one SEC country manager per CEE country. Someone who speaks the language, lives the culture, knows the country, is entrepreneurial and wants to work for the good of both countries. Contact them, if you have questions, are planning projects and more.
We are happy to introduce them!
