New Kosovo Ambassador in Switzerland: Mentor Latifi
Mentor Latifi has represented the Republic of Kosovo as the new ambassador to Switzerland since May 2024. With his extensive experience in diplomacy and business, he has clear goals for his term of office: to further strengthen economic relations between Kosovo and Switzerland. Latifi, who lived, studied and worked in Switzerland between 1991 and 2005, knows the country well and understands the opportunities and challenges that this partnership offers.
Latifi sees Kosovo as an ideal nearshore option for Swiss companies. Due to its geographical proximity of just 1800 kilometres, the country offers attractive advantages. The dynamic, young, often German-speaking and IT-savvy population in Kosovo in particular represents great potential for Swiss companies. Organisations such as Swissalbs and the Economic Forum are already strengthening cooperation between the large Kosovo diaspora in Switzerland and the home country, and Latifi sees further opportunities for economic cooperation here.
Latifi expects the Swiss-Central European Chamber of Commerce to bring companies from both countries even closer together in order to promote fruitful cooperation. His wish is to utilise synergies and deepen partnerships, which corresponds to his vision of closer economic ties between Switzerland and Kosovo.
Before taking on his role as Ambassador, Mr Latifi held various management positions in the private sector, including Country Manager at Roche Kosovo and Albania and Country Head Kosovo at Sutherland. These roles provided him with valuable knowledge in corporate management, strategic planning and business development.
With Mentor Latifi as ambassador, the course has been set for more intensive cooperation between Switzerland and Kosovo. His many years of experience and close ties with Switzerland will help him to build bridges and create new opportunities for a successful partnership.
