According to the central bank, Switzerland has risen to second place in terms of foreign direct investment in Albania in recent years, with a volume of around 1.9 billion euros. The main investor is TAP.
Swiss exports to Albania are modest. In 2023, Switzerland only ranks 15th among Albania’s export countries. With a value of EUR 44 million, Albanian exports to Switzerland only account for 1.1% of Albania’s total export volume.
The volume of imports from Switzerland to Albania totalled EUR 121 million in 2023 (2022: EUR 44 million). This puts Switzerland in 11th place among importing countries with a share of 1.4% of the total import volume. The primary import sectors from Switzerland are pharmaceuticals, energy, food, construction and environmental technology.
